Did you know that August 26th is National Dog Day? We think that dogs should be celebrated every day, but this is a wonderful chance to show your furry best friend some extra TLC, and maybe pamper him a bit. Read on as a local Crown Point, IN vet offers some great options for getting Fido’s furry tail wagging on his special day.
Homemade Treats
As we all know, yummy snacks are one of Fido’s favorite things. Why not make your pooch a special treat? You can make doggy ice cream by mixing plain yogurt with pureed pumpkin, ripe bananas, or sodium-free beef or chicken broth. For extra tail wags, add toppings like bacon bits or shredded cheese. Just be sure to choose only safe ingredients.
New Bed
Dogs spend quite a bit of their time snoozing. A new doggy bed is a great way to brighten up Fido’s day. If you have a large breed or a senior dog, consider getting your pup an orthopedic bed. Smaller dogs or shy pups may like beds with raised sides.
Fun Adventures
Man’s Best Friend loves to explore new places! Treat Fido with a fun trip to a dog-friendly park or café. Just be sure to put your pet’s safety first: make sure he’s current on his vaccines and parasite control, has a microchip, and is wearing ID tags.
Play Session
Get your pooch a new toy, and spend time playing with him. If Fido loves to chase tennis balls, get him an automated ball launcher. (Note: tennis balls can pose choking risks for big dogs.)
Veterinary Care
We know, veterinary appointments aren’t Fido’s favorite thing to do, but they’re very important to his health and well-being! Schedule your pup’s next appointment.
Photo Session
Snap some great shots of your furry best friend, and then use editing software to polish your shots. Finally, print and frame your favorite.
Quality Time
At the end of the day, your dog really wants nothing more than to spend some time with you. Fido’s love and friendship are truly blessings to be treasured. Spend time with your four-legged pal: indulge him in a fun play session, teach him a cute trick, or just relax with him.
