Practice Policy

Quality Holistic Care

Southlake Animal Hospital offers integrative veterinary medicine, focusing on healing your whole pet with a foundation of good nutrition, a great immune system, and a combination of holistic and integrative therapies vs traditional. Our first choice will always be a complete and balanced raw or home cooked diet, which has a profound positive effect on companion pets’ overall health. While we do accommodate kibble fed patients, we cannot guarantee that the ideal results will be achieved going this route. If you’re interested in making the change to biologically appropriate food, our staff is knowledgeable and available to answer any questions you may have!

Cancellation Policy

Due to limited appointment slots, late and missed appointments set the entire schedule behind. If you’re more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, there will be an inconvenience fee added to your invoice. If you do not show up to your appointment, or do not give us a 24-hour cancellation notice, there will be an inconvenience fee added to your invoice. This fee will need to be paid before scheduling any future appointments. The reason for these charges is that the appointment time that was missed could have been offered to another pet in need.

Appointment Options

We’re a small clinic, with only one veterinarian on staff. In addition to regularly scheduled appointments, we accommodate emergencies to the best of our capabilities. Please understand that your pet might need to be referred to a specialty clinic or urgent care center depending on the situation. In case of an emergency, our first recommendation is Animal Urgent Care in Crown Point.

We offer the following appointments at an additional charge:

Drop off appointments: Drop your pet off for treatment and diagnostics and pick up later in the day. Scheduling drop off appointments more than 1 day in advance allows us to prepare for your pet’s treatment needs and is more cost effective to the owner.

Day of emergency appointments: We fit you in for an exam the day of. Day of appointments are a limited option and cannot be guaranteed. If we do not have open appointments, the only other options are emergency exams and the fees associated with them.

Emergency drop off exams: Drop your pet off for treatment and diagnostics and pick up later in the day if your pet has an emergency the day of.

Flex wait appointments: Feel free to wait for treatment in between our scheduled appointments. Wait times can vary, depending on the workload of the day.

Hours of Availability

Since Dr. Carlson is the only veterinarian on staff, there are days where she takes time off work for continued education or personal reasons. Our Facebook page, Google Business listing, and Vet2Pet app are kept up to date on closures.

  • Monday – 8am to 6pm
  • Tuesday – 8am to 5pm
  • Wednesday – CLOSED
  • Thursday – 8am to 6pm (CLOSED: 1pm – 2pm)
  • Friday – 8am to 5pm
  • Saturday & Sunday – CLOSED

Payment Policy

We require that payment be made in full at the time services are rendered. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted and once established as clients, personal checks are also accepted with a valid driver’s license. We also accept Care Credit and Scratch Pay.
