Adorable New Year’s Resolutions for Dogs

January 1 2019

Happy New Year! Are you setting resolutions for 2019? If so, your dog will be right there by your side as you strive to meet your goals, cheering you on with head tilts, tail wags, and doggy smooches. Actually, your furry pal may have a few goals of his own for the new year! Read on as a Crown Point, IN vet lists some of Fido’s top resolutions.

Get More Bacon

We all know how much Fido loves treats! Bacon will definitely get your pup’s tail wagging. However, you may want to opt for less fattening snacks. Cooked, plain meat, fish, or chicken without the bones, skin, or fat, is always a good bet. Store-bought treats are fine as well.

Score Lots of Bellyrubs

Belly rubs are definitely on Fido’s list of the finer things in life. Help your pooch make this goal by offering him lots of belly rubs. Of course, ear scritches, forehead rubs, back scratches, and shoulder pets are also acceptable.

Be A Good Boy

Dogs love it when we praise and pet them. Fido is super adorable when he knows he’s being good! Remember to reward your pooch when he’s behaving.

Sniff New Grass

Man’s Best Friend has a pretty strong sense of adventure. Fido loves to get out and about and explore new places. Indulge your pup by changing up your walking route and bringing him somewhere new, like a doggy park, in 2019.

Avoid Bathtime

Your furry buddy may very well enjoy feeling soft and clean after a bath. The bath itself? Not so much. Your pooch may try a few new tactics for avoiding bath time this year. (Sorry, Fido: it’s for your own good!)

Catch That Squirrel

Does your dog have a yard to run and play in? Does he have a tiny adversary with a fluffy tail that likes to torment him by always staying just out of reach? Maybe this year Fido will finally catch that squirrel!

Spend Time With The Humans

Dogs haven’t earned the title of Man’s Best Friend for nothing. They are loving, faithful, and devoted pets, who stay beside us no matter what. Your canine bff may want to spend as much time with you as possible this year.

Please reach out to us, your Crown Point, IN veterinary clinic, anytime. We’ll be here for you in 2019 and beyond!
